Insurance & Billing Information

This section contains information and frequently asked questions regarding billing and insurance information.

Do you accept my insurance?

To find out if our doctors are considered in-network with your insurance you should contact your insurance company. Please contact them before your visit to the Paley Institute. If you are visiting from out-of-state, be sure to ask if your insurance has out-of-state benefit coverage. Your insurance carrier should also be able to inform you of any copays, coinsurance, or deductibles you may be responsible for.

If I am in-network are all servicers considered in-network?

No. While your insurance may consider the Paley Institute to be in-network, not all services may be considered in-network. Oftentimes insurance companies have negotiated contracts with particular providers to provide laboratory, x-ray, physical therapy, and other services. Your insurance company may not cover x-rays, laboratory services, physical therapy, etc. provided by the Paley Institute and St. Mary’s Medical Center. If your insurance does not cover these services, ask your provider for a prescription for the x-rays. You will need to bring these x-rays with you to your appointment.

Which payments are due at the time of my clinic visit?

All copayments and coinsurances are due before we provide service. The amount we collect at the time of your visit is an estimate. If you require additional services, the total charges may differ from what we originally estimated. After insurance pays their portion, you are responsible for any balance due.

Why did I receive two bills for my outpatient office visit?

You may receive two bills when you are seen by your doctor at the Paley Institute office in the upper level of the Kimmel Building on the campus of St. Mary’s Medical Center: one for the physician or physical therapy services from Tenet Florida Physician Services and one for outpatient hospital services from St. Mary’s Medical Center (e.g. x-rays or EOS).

What types of bills could I receive after surgery?

The bill you receive may contain multiple itemized bills, including inpatient, physician services, medical equipment, anesthesiologist, radiologist, and hospitalist. If you have any questions about understanding your bill, please contact the Paley Institute at 561.844.5255 or toll-free at 844.714.5293.

Can I authorize someone else to talk to you about my bill and other healthcare issues?

Yes. After you complete and return the signed form, we will be able to talk about your bill with the person who you have authorized. We require your written authorization to protect your privacy and to keep your medical information confidential. We do not require written authorization to discuss a medical bill with a parent or legal guardian.
